How to wear white on white

I believe I’m not one to always follow all the fashion trends, my day to day outfit choices mostly depend on how i’m feeling that day and then I  try to match that up with what I’m doing that day, so the two can balance out.

Of course that doesn’t always happen, A lot of time I end up being over dressed, but hey. Always better to be over dressed than underdressed right?  (Yes sometimes I also go looking like hobo to places, because thats how I want to be!)

One trend that is becoming really popular is Minimalism . Everything is and everyone wants to be minimal and why not its beautiful right? You may remember one of my initial posts “Less is more” and that still stands true. When we talk about minimalism in fashion, its all about monochromatic outfits. The main colour elements being black, grey and white.

Now coming to the main point of: How do you wear white on white?!

This question has been haunting me for the longest time, because its definitely something out of my comfort zone, as beautiful as the colour white is, its not the most sliming colour is it? and for someone who is blessed with a pear shaped body things couldn’t get more frustrating. Of course I’m no expert on anything, but these are a few of my personal tips that could maybe give you the confidence to pull it off or take yours up a notch! 🙂

1. Find the right silhouette

Like I mentioned earlier white is not the most sliming colour, in fact it could add on to making you look bulkier than you are. Which we obviously don’t want this happening, for example I still don’t feel like I can pull of white trousers for a white on white look. Where a skirt makes the look more flattering and also gives an illusion of looking taller to some extent 😉  If you’re the opposite body type, you could try a more lose fitted top and and rock those white trousers! 😀

It’s all about trial and error until you get it right! 🙂

2. Try different textures

We don’t want a boring monochromatic look, so add texture to your outfit! Mix up different fabrics and add your look. For my all white outfit I wore a jersey knit skirt, with a polyester blend top and a tweed cropped blazer.

3. Mix up your whites

There are sooo many shades of white! Egg white, winter white and many more. Do make sure they compliment each other though!

4. Don’t forget your accessories!

The accessories will add to your look (If done right) you can use them to add a slight pop of colour to your look. You could opt for white accessories too, but why not go for nudes or black? Or something even more brighter!

Of course it depends on what kind of look you are going for. A casual, outgoing or formal for example I went for black and gold, ( one of my favourite combinations).
